Big Almaty lake
Just an hour drive from the city to be one of the most beautiful natural places of TRANS-ili Alatau. The lake is situated at height of 2500 meters above sea level, its depth reaches 35 m, length — about 1 km, width — up to 500 m. water Temperature in summer is 10-12 degrees Celsius. From the shore you can admire a fascinating panorama of the mountains with surrounding peaks.
Peak Sovetov and peak Ozerni on a south part just behind the lake, in the West — a rocky massif of Big Almaty peak. The lake turned into a natural reservoir. From all sides it is surrounded by picturesque trees like Tien Shan spruce, aspen, and juniper tops. Big Almaty lake is fed by glacial water, is the bowl area of 1.6 sq km and is the source of drinking water supply of the city of Almaty. The road is very interesting, is with a view of bear Gulch. Further, the serpentine road, with stops for panoramic photo shoots in scenic locations. A visit to the lake takes about two hours. After rest on a lake we are moving to a meteorological station with spectacular views of the lake. The meteorological station “Kosmostantsiya” — the highest point of the path of the order of 3000m above sea level. It offers truly stunning views of high mountain peaks up to 4000m.
