Turgene Gorge
The stunning Turgene Gorge, with the river of the same name, is the longest and most expansive gorge in the Zailiyskiy Alatau mountain range. It lies within the Ili-Alatau National Park.
The gorge is home to many interesting spots, including waterfalls, a trout farm, an ostrich farm, an open-air historical and ethnographic museum, a statue of the Golden Man (Altyn Adam) from a Saka burial mound, natural springs, and unique Chinturgensky mossy fir forests with permafrost patches. However, the most captivating attractions are the waterfalls. Although there are seven waterfalls in total in the gorge, only one is particularly famous and frequently visited.
Issyk Lake
Issyk Lake is located in the Issyk Gorge, in the mountains of the Zailiyskiy Alatau. The road to the lake is picturesque, offering stunning views as it winds through a steep serpentine path.
Bear Falls
Located at an altitude of 1,559 meters above sea level, Bear Falls is one of the Turgene waterfalls. It is created by the small Turgene River, which plunges over a 30-meter cliff. The waterfall is set in a breathtaking location, where the turbulent waters crash into the rock face, as if trying to break through it, completing the picturesque landscape framed by cliffs on three sides. Fine mist from the waterfall sprays in all directions, creating a cloud-like effect.
Assy Plateau
An incredible destination for nature lovers is the Assy Plateau at 3,000 meters above sea level. The journey to the plateau takes you over 12 bridges along a beautiful river. As we approach the highest point of the Turgene Gorge, the road turns into a mountain track, and our specially prepared off-road vehicles transport you to an abandoned observatory, where panoramic views of the surrounding landscapes await. The beauty of this high-altitude plateau is truly remarkable.
