Ancient low mountains, in which there are more than 5,000 petroglyph drawings from the Bronze Age to the Middle Ages. Gallery of petroglyphs Tambaly are treasures of world importance and are under the protective fund of UNESCO. Here both Saks and Turkic, but the majority — the most-mysterious — were made in the era of developed bronze (more than 3000 years).

This is truly an ancient art gallery, in the paintings of which both individual animals and people are depicted, as well as whole scenes from the life of ancient people. Over many millennia, the wide and smooth surfaces of the cliffs were covered with «desert tan», becoming the ideal background of this wrought-iron gallery over which more than one generation worked. The Tamgaly is located in the south-eastern part of the Chu-Ili Mountains, stretching from south to north from Zailiysky Alatau to the lake Balkhash and the desert Betpak-Dala.

Departure from Almaty
8:30 AM: The guide will pick you up from your hotel. On the way, you’ll learn about the city of Almaty and Kazakhstan as a whole. The distance is 175 km one way.

11:30 AM — Arrival at Tamgaly (UNESCO)
If you love history, ancient petroglyphs are a must-see. A walking tour of around 3 km awaits you. Tamgaly is home to more than 2,000 petroglyphs. On the way back, we will have a picnic lunch outdoors.

5:00 PM — Return to Almaty
After lunch, we begin our journey back to Almaty. The guide will take you back to your hotel.
